Revenue Growth with Strong ROAS for a US Religious Gifts Retailer
Client
The client is a US e-commerce retailer specialising in faith-based gifts, home décor, jewelry and personalised Christian keepsakes — a niche audience with strong seasonal gifting peaks.
Challenge
Running Google Ads in the faith-based gift market brings a specific set of pressures. Competition intensifies around seasonal peaks like Christmas, Easter and Mother's Day, so budget allocation and bid strategy have to be precise. Unlike generic gift stores, the client serves a niche audience, which makes audience segmentation and keyword selection critical to ad efficiency. A wide range of product categories means campaigns must be structured carefully to avoid budget dilution. Faith-based shoppers also gravitate toward personalized, meaning-driven products, so ad copy and imagery play an outsized role in conversions. Finally, balancing new-customer acquisition with re-engaging past buyers called for a robust remarketing strategy to sustain growth.
Approach
We built a data-driven, audience-focused Google Ads program tailored to faith-based gifting:
- Performance Max with structured asset groups. We created a separate Asset Group for each product category to sharpen ad relevance and campaign control, starting feed-only to prioritize Google Shopping and Dynamic Remarketing for the best conversion rates and ROAS. As groups gained traction, we added headlines, descriptions and images to reach Search, Display, YouTube and Discovery — then introduced video to lift engagement on YouTube and Discovery.
- Automated bidding optimization. Target ROAS and Maximize Conversion Value adjusted bids dynamically to audience behavior, with seasonal adjustments to capture high-intent shoppers during peak gifting periods.
- Advanced audience segmentation. We segmented with first-party data — past purchasers, cart abandoners and high-intent visitors — and used Customer Match and Similar Audiences to re-engage buyers and attract new shoppers with similar interests.
- Negative keyword refinement. A disciplined negative keyword strategy filtered out irrelevant traffic and kept spend on high-converting searches, with regular reviews to protect budget efficiency.
- Mobile and desktop ad segmentation. Separate ad groups per device ensured headlines and descriptions displayed correctly everywhere, with mobile CTAs optimized for on-the-go conversions and smooth checkout.
- A/B testing for creative performance. We tested imagery, ad copy and CTAs to find the strongest combinations, leaning into faith-centered messaging that resonated with the audience's values.
- Dynamic remarketing for cart recovery. Personalized product recommendations re-engaged users who browsed but didn't buy, lifting conversion rates.
- Seasonal promotions and limited-time offers. Creatives aligned with seasonal gifting trends, using promotion extensions in Search and Shopping to highlight time-sensitive deals and create urgency.
- Landing page optimization. We aligned ad copy with landing page messaging and added trust signals — customer reviews and secure-checkout badges — to boost buyer confidence.
- Continuous monitoring and bid adjustments. Ongoing audits reallocated budget to top-performing asset groups, while heatmaps and analytics refined targeting and engagement.
Results
With these optimizations, the client saw a marked improvement in Google Ads performance. The structured Performance Max approach, advanced audience segmentation and automated bidding drove higher conversions and revenue growth. By concentrating on the best-performing channels and seasonal opportunities, campaigns scaled effectively while holding a strong ROAS. Built on a data-driven, audience-focused strategy, the account continues to thrive in the faith-based gifting market — reaching a larger audience and driving meaningful engagement.
